One Long Hike A Month
Living in Oxfordshire means I am spoilt for choice for places to ride and hike to. The countryside is gorgeous and very often you can escape the hustle and bustle of much busier places with some very simple planning.
A mate of mine and I have decided that we will do one long hike a month, just so that we can chat and catch up, and find an excuse for a tasty snack somewhere. The hike I want to do is to the Wittenham Clumps. The Clumps are a pair of wooded chalk hills, both crowned with the oldest known planted hilltop beeches in England. When you walk into Oxfordshire, and you want to know your bearings, the Didcot Towers from the old power station use to be the landmark everyone could see. But since their demolition, the Clumps have emerged and can be seen for miles around. So, for our next walk, my pal and I will walk to the top of these clumps, maybe circle them, take a selfie on them, and then head back to the start.
Using the Hiking Maps in Zuvolo, I created a route from an amazing Café near Benson, across the countryside to the Clumps and back again. It took me just a few minutes to create and save that route to my phone. In the past, I would have had to use some fancy routing web app, then export it from my PC to my phone. Not anymore. I then created an Event and shared it with my mate. What use to take a lot of time, now takes minutes. Give it a try!
